Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages

Adult English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Classes

This course is designed to teach students to listen, speak, read, and write English in seven life-skills topics: Communications, Civics, Family and Community Resources, Employment, Consumer Education, Health and Nutrition, Transportation and Travel, and Safety and Security.

Fees

The tuition for Adult Education classes is $30.00 per session for students. There are two sessions per year: August-December and January-May. Please contact the Student Services Office for more details.

Please be advised that any student wishing to re-enroll due to withdrawal because of non-compliance with school attendance policy during an academic session must pay a $10.00 fee in advance of re-admittance to the class.

Class Objectives

Students are required to identify, organize and use resources appropriately; to work with each other cooperatively and productively; to acquire and use information; to understand social, organizational, and technological systems; and to work with a variety of tools and equipment. Students also work to improve personal qualities and higher order thinking skills.

After successfully completing this course, the student will be able to demonstrate English skills necessary to listen, speak, read and write effectively. The students will also be able to apply rules of standard English grammar, obtain higher education and training, and demonstrate the ability to use computer technology.
